Philips Healthcare and the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam will research new multi-modality diagnostic imaging technologies to improve early detection and treatment of disease.

The organizations expect to develop and validate next-generation products, such as new imaging agents to pinpoint abnormalities and quantitative image analysis software with user-friendly presentation of data. The project initially will focus on nuclear medicine, primarily Positron Emission Tomography and optical imaging.

The organizations expect new imaging technologies will result in more timely, minimally invasive and personalized treatments, improving success rates.
