Net income for online health information content vendor WebMD Health Corp. increased 19% to $12.8 million during the third quarter of 2009, compared with the same period a year earlier. Quarterly income rose 15% to nearly $111.6 million.
The New York-based vendor saw advertising revenue increase 20% for the quarter. Unique visitors increased 19% and total traffic of 1.4 billion page views was up 27%. Revenue from private portal services was flat compared with the third quarter of 2008. The company launched its first consumer portal outside the United States, in the United Kingdom, during the quarter.
For the first nine months of 2009, WebMD had net income of $17.7 million, compared with a $6.2 million loss a year ago. Nine-month revenue increased 14% to $300.5 million. More information is available at webmd.com.
