Feds Seek Input to Develop Privacy Guidance

The Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights will host a workshop on March 8-9 to solicit input as it develops guidance for de-identification of protected health information.


The Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights will host a workshop on March 8-9 to solicit input as it develops guidance for de-identification of protected health information.

The guidance is mandated under the HITECH Act within the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The Office for Civil Rights has enforcement jurisdiction over the HIPAA privacy and security rules.

The workshop, to be held in Washington and open to the public, will include numerous panels to address specific topics related to de-identification methodologies and policies.
