Elsevier has launched EduCode Competency Exams, a series of assessments developed to evaluate staff proficiency, aid in career development and identify appropriate education for employees in ICD-10 coding and clinical documentation improvement job roles.

Designed to assess individuals' level of knowledge and ability related to coding and documentation, each competency is based on a comprehensive job analysis, with questions written and peer-reviewed by appropriately credentialed subject matter experts. Role-appropriate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding and clinical documentation improvement responsibilities are covered.

Education for these professionals must be based on government regulations and authoritative guidelines and is most successful when customized to the needs of the individual learner or organization, Deborah Neville, the company's director of revenue cycle, coding and compliance, said in a statement announcing the product.

Features of the competency exams include validated questions, mapped and auto-assigned remedial training, learner and management reporting, comparable results presented within easy-to-read graphs, and reporting by individual, hospital, region or system, according to the vendor.
