Stakeholder advocacy group eHealth Initiative has published the Health IT Cancer Resource Guide, an overview of the electronic tools and technologies available to help patients, families and caregivers going through the journey of cancer treatment.

The guide explains 76 tools in five categories--decision making, education, information and treatment management, social support and lifestyle management--that range from mobile apps to Web sites to social networks. Representatives of the American Cancer Society and American Society of Clinical Oncologists helped design the guide.

Development of the guide was based on findings from the Issue Brief on eHealth Tools and Cancer Care, which was an eHealth review of 124 articles on how telemedicine, mobile health, Web technologies and social media are being used in cancer care.
