The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology is soliciting membership for a new Accountable Care Health I.T. workgroup of the advisory HIT Policy Committee, and announces availability of a draft test scenario for electronic health records interoperability under the meaningful use criteria in 2014.

The new workgroup will develop recommendations on how government policies and programs can advance evolution of an I.T. infrastructure supporting improved care and population health management under ACO models. The application is available here with a due date of Feb. 15.

The new draft test scenario, “EHR Interoperability: Intake,” is the first of several scenarios expected on interoperability issues. “We are specifically asking for input on the draft test scenario’s concept, structure, usability and clinical plausibility,” according to ONC. The agency defines a test scenario as “A set of unit-based procedures linked in a clinically plausible test flow using test data threaded in a logical fashion.” This scenario and others will be tested against the 2014 Edition of EHR certification criteria.
