Consumer health information vendor Krames has introduced software to enable physicians to show animated patient education videos to patients via an Apple iPhone or iPod Touch.

The Krames iPatientEd application offers 118 animations, many also available in Spanish, spanning 22 medical specialty areas, according to the Yardley, Pa.-based vendor.

In the first three days of availability with virtually no promotion, more than 1,000 animations were downloaded, says George Parker, president and CEO at Krames. The product is available for download at the Apple iTunes store, at apple.com/itunes, for $9.99. A free version includes 10 animations.
