MD On-Line, a Parsippany, N.J.-based claims clearinghouse, has acquired Healthware Solutions LLC, a small vendor of ambulatory electronic health records software, for an undisclosed sum.
Montville, N.J.-based Healthware has 50 physician clients in about 10 practices in New Jersey and New York using its e-ChartPlus software. MD On-Line expects to have the EHR certified as supporting meaningful use requirements by early 2011, according to a spokesperson.
"We hope to be more than a clearinghouse with this acquisition," the spokesperson says. Asked if the company is looking to buy a practice management system, the spokesperson replied "there will be news on that soon."
