Health care financial/administrative transactions processor NaviNet Inc. now will move clinical information across its network.

The Boston-based vendor has launched Doc Xchange to enable providers to transmit medical documentation to other providers, insurers, government agencies and health information exchanges.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has designated NaviNet as a Health Information Handler under the first phase of Medicare's electronic submission of medical documentation program to automate the handling of attachments when Medicare asks for additional information to support a claim. Village SurgiCenter of Erie, Pa., is the first provider office to go live with Doc Xchange.
