The Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission has adopted 2010 criteria for its nine accreditation programs for transactions processors and other service providers.

Programs cover such areas as application service providers for electronic health records, e-prescribing, financial lockbox services, claims clearinghouses/value-added networks, billing, third-party administrators, and additional outsourced services.

Industry-sponsored EHNAC based in Farmington, Conn., adopted final criteria following a comment period. The organization also has developed separate draft criteria for each accreditation program related to HITECH Act provisions that will be incorporated into each program when federal regulations are finalized.

Now, EHNAC is developing draft criteria for a health information exchange accreditation program and expects to open a 60-day comment period in February. More information on the organization and its programs is available at ehnac.org.
