The Health & Online Wellness unit is called “healow,” which also is the name of the patient engagement platform being developed and the first mobile app. The unit starts with eClinicalWorks’ patient Web portal that includes a personal health record. About 8 million registered users have logged into the portal.
The vendor expects availability of the new free healow mobile app, for Apple and Android devices, later in February. The app will enable authorized access to personal or family member electronic health records and electronic communication with providers.
Many features in the app are similar to what is available on the patient portal, but the app has additional capabilities, according to eClinicalWorks. Users can create personal notes regarding recent visits or upcoming appointments, add over-the-counter medications to the medication list provided in their personal health record, and set reminders to take medication.
The vendor expects additional apps and other patient engagement tools being available during 2013, and has a goal for profitability of healow by the end of the first quarter of 2014. More information is at healow.com.
