NDS Surgical Imaging has acquired Dome Imaging Systems, the medical business unit of Planar Systems Inc., a Beaverton, Ore.-based manufacturer of computer display systems. Acquisition terms were not disclosed.

San Jose, Calif.-based NDS is a vendor of medical imaging systems for minimally invasive surgery and related infection control products.

Dome manufactures imaging displays for picture archiving and communication systems, patient monitors, point-of-care workstations and other applications.

Combining the technologies of each company will enable the connecting of PACS images with surgical video and information, says John Murphy, president and CEO of NDS.
