A new Web site, konnectology.com, is designed to help patients evaluate kidney transplant centers. The site is the first patient-centered service of Culmini Inc., a Burlingame, Calif.-based start-up funded by the National Institutes of Health.

Konnectology walks patients through completing evaluation forms and finding kidney centers with the shortest waiting lists, according to the vendor. It also compares survival rates at all 264 centers in the nation.

Using its assessment methods, the company has determined the 10 best kidney transplant centers are: Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix; Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis; Clarian Health Partners in Indianapolis; Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia; Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta; Tampa General Hospital; New York-Presbyterian Hospital; Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, N.H.; University of California Davis Medical Center in Sacramento; and Scott & White Healthcare in Temple, Texas.
