The Philips Speech Processing division of Royal Philips Electronics has introduced an application to centralize the configuration and administration of digital dictation hardware.
The Atlanta-based division is targeting its Remote Device Management Tool to health care organizations and law firms. The tool enables central configuration of settings, such as keywords, button functions, download options, displays and microphone sensitivity, either for individual recorders or a group of recorders. Functions also can be added or blocked for certain recorders used by a specific group of users.
Recorders are automatically updated with new configurations when connected to a computer or placed in a docking station.
The Remote Device Management Tool comprises a server module, a management client and an update client, which downloads and maintains a list of all device configurations. The tool is available for free to customers with larger installations and to resellers in the Philips vendor partner network.
