HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley in Kingston, N.Y., will implement the Horizon Clinicals information system of McKesson Corp., San Francisco.

The three-hospital delivery system already uses McKesson's medical imaging and pharmacy systems, as well as the vendor's pharmacy distribution service. Now, it will replace a legacy clinical system from another vendor to position itself to qualify for meaningful use incentive payments under the HITECH Act.

Along with the core Horizon system, HealthAlliance will implement McKesson's bar-coded bedside medication administration system and computerized physician order entry software. These will be implemented in a phased approach to meet meaningful use criteria by 2012.

HealthAlliance also will implement a physician Web portal to enable remote authorized access to patient data and an electronic tracking board to provide quick access to a range of patient status information. More information is available at hahv.org.
