The National Council for Prescription Drug Programs has introduced a new database for pharmacies, pharmacy benefit management firms, health insurers and other stakeholders. Its primary purpose is to ensure that pharmacy claims contain the correct information.
The application, called dataQ, is a new generation of the organizations Standard Pharmacy Database, which contains data on almost 75,000 pharmacies.
The new database is Web accessible, offers instant look-ups and has extensive custom reporting capabilities, according to Scottsdale, Ariz.-based NCPDP. The database also supports pharmacy network development and credentialing; data validation; drug utilization and product recall monitoring; and market research and analysis.
