Ambulatory electronic health records vendor Sevocity has analyzed Medicare data to determine which electronic health records meaningful use menu objectives eligible professionals most often select.

The data comes from “EP Recipients of Medicare EHR Incentive Program Payments,” a report the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued in December 2012. Under Stage 1, EPs must pick five menu objectives and the top choice with an 85% selection rate is “Implement Drug Formulary Checks.” The second most popular pick, chosen by 74 percent of EPs, is “Generate Lists of Patients by Specific Conditions to Use for Quality Improvement, Reduction of Disparities, Research or Outreach.”

Only 16 percent of EPs chose “Summary Care Record for Transition of Care,” making it the least popular menu objective. A free white paper to aid in determining which menu objectives to target is available by sending an email to sales@sevocity.com. The company analyzed results from 117,285 eligible professionals.
