CVS Caremark, which operates a pharmacy benefit management firm and the CVS drug store chain, has issued two reports examining patient medication adherence across the nation.

“The State of the States: Adherence Report” gives the results of a 50-state study using PBM claims data to assess medication adherence for patients with hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes and depression.

The second report, “Advancing Adherence and the Science of Pharmacy Care, Volume 2,” examines findings of 20 peer-reviewed articles to highlight what is working to improve medication adherence. The report is a collaboration of CVS Caremark, Harvard University, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

An interactive map of state-by-state adherence is available here and both reports can be downloaded here.
