Cooper Green Mercy Hospital in Birmingham, Ala., will implement an electronic health records system and go after Stage 1 meaningful use incentive payments.

The 319-bed county-owned hospital will implement the OpenVista clinical inpatient system of Medsphere Systems Corp., Carlsbad, Calif. OpenVista is a commercialized, subscription-based version of the Department of Veterans Affairs' VistA electronic records system.

Cooper Green also will install the InsightCS financial and patient accounting applications of Stockell Healthcare Systems, Chesterfield, Mo. The vendors have partnered in the past. More information is available at coopergreenmercyhospital.org.
