A June 22 HDM news bulletin, "Making Data Use More Transparent," explained a debate among federal advisory committee members on the degree to which entities should be accountable for what they do with patient data.

An initial version of the bulletin included an example of the use of drug data between electronic prescribing networks, pharmacies and data analytics vendors that was attributed to David Blumenthal, M.D., national coordinator for health information technology. The remarks came from David McCallie, M.D., vice president of medical informatics at Cerner Corp.
