Tiny Hospital to Deploy HIS

Marengo (Iowa) Memorial Hospital will implement the Paragon clinical/financial community hospital information system from McKesson Corp., San Francisco.

The 25-bed hospital also will use the vendor's Practice Partner ambulatory practice management and electronic health records software in its outpatient clinic. The software will integrate with Paragon to give physicians at the clinic access to patients' inpatient medical records, according to the vendor.

The hospital envisions patients registered at the clinic not having to re-register when they go to the hospital to have further services performed. The integration also will enable outpatient physician orders to flow to the hospital information system. It will enable hospital test results to automatically transmit to the clinic's EHR.
