The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit will implement a suite of clinical and revenue cycle management software from Eclipsys Corp., Atlanta.
The institute also will outsource information technology operations to the vendor, with institute I.T. staff becoming Eclipsys employees. The vendor will remotely host the applications out of its data center in Mountain Lakes, N.J.
The vendor calls the contract, terms of which were not disclosed, one of the largest in its history. The institute comprises a 120-bed cancer hospital and two ambulatory care facilities.
Under the contract, the institute will use the core Sunrise Clinical Manager electronic health records system. Accompanying ancillary systems include acute care, pharmacy, medication administration, computerized physician order entry, clinical decision support, radiology, ambulatory care and health information management modules.
