A new Web site enables consumers to share and research the side effects of their medications.

Consumers must register and complete a brief survey of their medication experience to join the free site, iGuard.org. Once registered, they can share their drug side effects, as well as review those posted by other members. The site also offers patient drug reviews, a drug risk rating system, and information about drug safety alerts and recall notices.

The site is run by a Princeton, N.J.-based company of the same name. It was initially funded by Quintiles Transnational Corp., a Research Triangle Park, N.C.-based vendor of clinical research services.

The Web site will generate revenue by conducting surveys on behalf of drug research and development companies to monitor how drugs are working for consumers.

For more information, go to iguard.org.
