Sunnyvale, Calif.-based RemakeHealth Inc. has launched a Web site giving consumers information about medical imaging centers to help them choose a facility and schedule an appointment.

Available information, covering 200 different radiology tests, includes prices, accepted insurance, location and hours, available tests, and certifications.

There are about 7,000 medical imaging facilities across the nation, according to the vendor, and the Web site--still in beta--initially covers four markets: San Francisco/Bay Area, Orlando/Central Florida, Las Vegas and Phoenix. The site lists more than 160 imaging centers, including expanded information on 23 “partner” facilities, and the company plans to expand the service nationally.

The site lists the name, address and telephone number of non-partner facilities. It lists the additional information about partner facilities in an expanded profile that also includes an online calendar to show open time slots. Optional paid services available to partner facilities include advertising and preferred placement.

The site, free for consumers, is available at remakehealth.com.

A major success factor for accountable care organizations will be linking caregivers across the spectrum of care delivery. If history is any indication, that's going to be an industrywide struggle.
