HIMSS Readies its Virtual Conference

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society will hold its next online HIMSS Virtual Conference & Expo on April 23-24. The event, which is free to "qualified" individuals and includes a nominal fee for others, includes free access to the exhibit hall for all.

Keynote speakers include Jonathan Bush, chair and CEO of Watertown, Mass.-based athenahealth Inc.; and futurist/strategist Matthew Holt of Matthew Holt Consulting in San Francisco.

Online educational sessions will cover such areas as implementing information technologies in the emergency department, assessing how standards harmonization will change the work of health care professionals, using electronic health records to support nursing education, and preparing for a HIPAA security audit by the federal government.

More than 2,200 participants registered for the last virtual conference in November 2007. More information is available at himssvirtual.org.
