Austin, Texas-based eCareSoft, a vendor of integrated clinical and financial/administrative information systems for community hospitals, has acquired Mexican hospital I.T. vendor Expert Sistemas Computacionales for an undisclosed sum.

The companies have been separate but related entities. Jorge Camargo-Boj founded Expert Sistemas in 1988, and its enterprise client/server system, called Medsys, owns a 40 percent market share in Mexico. Camargo-Boj in recent years founded eCareSoft to market a cloud-hosted clinical/financial system to hospitals under 200 beds in the United States.

Now, combining the companies brings technologies and expertise to enable eCareSoft to develop a cloud-based enterprise software package supporting delivery systems in the U.S., Mexico and Latin America. The company will continue to support Medsys but expects sales to wind down during the next two or three years as customers move toward the cloud-hosted systems.
