Comment Sought on HIE Accreditation

The Electronic Health Network Accreditation Commission is seeking public comment on a second phase of its work to develop a health information exchange accreditation program.

The Electronic Health Network Accreditation Commission is seeking public comment on a second phase of its work to develop a health information exchange accreditation program.

The Farmington, Conn.-based, industry sponsored organization accredits a range of health care transactions processors. In February, EHNAC accepted comments on the first phase of its emerging HIE program, focusing on privacy and security, technical performance, business practices and organizational resources.

Now, ENHAC is seeking comment on HIE-specific policies that its HIE Advisory Board developed. The commission will accept comment through Aug. 13 and expects to release final HIE accreditation criteria on Sept. 23. The organization continues to accept beta candidates for the new program.
