Boulder Community Hospital is the first provider in Colorado to go live on CORHIO, the designated state health information exchange funded in part through grants from the HITECH Act.

Four other provider organizations in Boulder County--Alpine Urology, Gastroenterology of the Rockies, Longmont United Hospital and Spruce Street Internal Medicine--have signed agreements to share patient data via the HIE. Data initially available for exchange includes lab and pathology results, diagnostic imaging reports, and transcribed physician reports. CORHIO will add medication, allergy and immunization lists this summer.

CORHIO serves the Front Range and Eastern Plains regions of Colorado where most of the state's residents live. Quality Health Network, an existing HIE and CORHIO partner, serves the Grand Junction region and other rural areas in the west.

CORHIO also operates CO-REC, a federally funded regional extension center offering services to help providers select and implement electronic health records. More information is available at corhio.org.
