Twenty-three members of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives recently were certified under the organization's Certified Healthcare CIO program, bringing the number of certified members to 70 since the program started in 2009.

The only certification program specifically for health care CIOs and equivalent positions recognizes those that have demonstrated an elevated level of proficiency and dedication to the profession. To be certified, CHIME members must be in a CIO or equivalent position for at least three years, pass the 125-question CHCIO examination, collect 25 continuing education units and commit to ongoing professional development and recertification every three years.

The 23 new CHCIO-certified members are: John Arnott II of Cirrus Health, Jeffrey Burke of Bon Secours Health System, Don Claunch of Wyoming Medical Center, Doris Peek Crain of Broward Health, Michelle Edwards of Palmetto Health, William Eubanks of UMC Health System, Stuart Gross of Southern California Physicians Managed Care, Nancy Hall of MedAmerica/CEP America, David Kempson of Maricopa Integrated Health System, Billi Kennedy-Hutchinson of Adventist Health System, Curt Kwak of Providence Health & Services, and Robert Paul Latz of EnduraCare Therapy Management.
