CIO Eric Yablonka of the University of Chicago Medical Center doesn’t have single issue that will dominate his knowledge quest at HIMSS11; regulatory issues have increased the top priorities to three issues. “This year is unique in that we have real interests in accountable care organizations and meaningful use,” he says. “But we are building a 1.2 million-square-foot facility and I am hoping to use the show to access new technologies and how they would fit into our ecosystem.”

So, he’ll focus educational sessions on ACO and meaningful use topics and time on the exhibit floor looking at the new toys. That might be a little problematic because Yablonka’s least favorite thing about HIMSS is “there’s never enough time to see all the vendors you want to see.”
