Cerner Corp. will acquire Resource Systems, vendor of the CareTracker care documentation software for more than 3,000 skilled nursing and assisted living facilities.

Terms of the acquisition, expected to close during May, were not released. Cerner says the buy likely will not have a material affect on its 2011 financial results. The acquisition expands Cerner's footprint in the long-term care market. The company will integrate CareTracker, which also documents activities of daily living, with its BeyondNow home health software.

New Concord, Ohio-based Resource Systems also brings to Cerner specialized software to automate Minimum Data Set reporting of nursing home assessments. Larry Triplett, president and co-founder of Resource Systems, will join Cerner's long-term care division. More information is available at resourcesystems.net.
