Cerner Corp. will acquire PureWellness, vendor of an online platform of tools, information and services to support population health management. Terms of the deal, expected to close in March, were not announced.

Burlington, Vt.-based PureWellness markets to health provider organizations, insurers, employers and resellers. The platform, being remained Cerner Wellness, presently is available to more than four million individuals. It supports individualized health assessments, lifestyle risk assessments, wellness workshops, diet and nutrition plans, walking programs, team challenges, incentive programs, coaching, and mobile apps to track health status and progress, among other services.

Integrating the wellness offerings to the Millennium electronic health records software and the HealtheIntent line of cloud-based tools to search charts, generate numerous reports, and detect sepsis development early, will give Cerner more tools to offer accountable care organizations, providers, insurers and other organizations looking to expand population health initiatives, according to the company.
