Mountain View, Calif.-based Omnicell is best known for its automated pharmaceutical dispensing cabinets, supply management software and bedside medication management software. Elgin, S.C.-based Rioux Vision, with about 60 employees, sells a variety of carts to enable bedside distribution of supplies and medications and documentation of treatment.
Under terms of the acquisition, expected to close by year-end, Rioux Vision will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Omnicell. The acquisition is expected to generate up to 6% additional revenue growth for Omnicell during 2008 but dilute earnings by about five cents per share. Omnicell expects the acquisition to add to earnings starting in 2009.
