Mobile Ultrasound Aimed at Cardiology

Philips Healthcare has introduced a portable, laptop-sized ultrasound system for bedside use by cardiologists.

The Philips CX50 CompactXtreme delivers the same image quality as full-sized systems, according to Thomas Buck, M.D., at the West German Heart Center in Gesamthochschule, an early adopter.

The ultrasound has a built-in handle and battery, but also has a cart designed specifically for the system. It has a wheeled storage case.
