The Washington-based American College of Cardiology will work with WebMD, Elmwood Park, N.J. to jointly offer cardiovascular health care content for clinicians and consumers.
The initiative will offer content via WebMD's Medscape portal, medscape.com/acc, and at the ACCs two Web sites, cardiosource.org and cardiosmart.org.
The content for clinicians, titled "Cardiovascular Risk Reduction: Putting Guidelines into Practice to Improve Outcome," will feature continuing education activities, cardiovascular news and patient information.
The consumer content will include cardiovascular news, videos and insights from ACC. It will be designed to educate and encourage consumers and patients to actively participate in heart health, disease prevention and treatment, as well as to strengthen their relationships with physicians.
The content will be guided by a multidisciplinary steering committee comprising experts in cardiology and primary care. Christopher Cannon, M.D., associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, will chair the committee.
