Five churches in Brooklyn will encourage members to adopt personal health records from Dossia under a pilot program with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

The churches offer regular monitoring and screening programs to members with chronic conditions and now the members will have access to the PHR to record their health information. Software from NexJ Systems with integrate with Dossia’s platform, enabling lay health workers at the churches to access screening and monitoring results with members’ consent.

Participating churches in Brooklyn include Mamre Seventh Day Adventist, God’s Battalion of Prayer, Christian Fellowship Seventh Day Adventist, Berean Baptist and House of the Lord Pentecostal Church. The pilot is funded under a grant from the New York State Department of Health.

Dossia is best known as developer of a PHR for 10 large corporations to offer to their employees.
