The password-protected laptop included patient names, dates of birth, basic medical descriptions and medical record numbers, predominantly from 2009 and related to past care and research, according to the hospital.
The laptop did not contain financial information, Social Security numbers or “any other marketable information,” according to the hospital, which learned of the theft on January 10. Still, patients are being offered identity protection services.
