OptumHealth Behavioral Solutions, a unit of UnitedHealth Group, has exclusively licensed decision support software from Australia-based Brain Resource Ltd.

The contract means Golden Valley, Minn.-based OptumHealth is the only managed care company in the United States who can use the software for the next three years.

The software is a Web-based, 40-minute assessment that OptumHealth will provide to clinicians to measure general cognition (how people process information) and social cognition (how people manage their emotions) of patients. Once an assessment is complete, it is compared with thousands of profiles in Brain Resource’s database, enabling clinicians to identify at-risk patients. The software also recommends appropriate treatment options.

More information is available at optumhealth.com and brainresource.com.
