Editors’ Choice Awards Announced

Health Data Management and the 4th Annual World Healthcare Innovation and Technology Congress are pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Editors’ Choice Awards. These awards recognize the most innovative health care IT leaders and facilities for their pioneering efforts in using information technology to improve the quality of life of their patients and the financial viability of their organizations.

The award winners are selected by the editorial staff of Health Data Management based on published articles that highlighted individuals and organizations setting new standards of innovation.

The five award categories for the 2008 competition are:

I.T. Innovator of the Year

The award recognizes the individual who stands atop the industry in their efforts to develop, implement or advocate the use of information technology in the health care setting to improve patient care and enhance business operations.

Consumer Connectivity

The most significant trend in the U.S. health care industry is the shift toward enabling consumers to take control of health care decisions. This award recognizes the organization that has pioneered the use of Web-based information and communication tools to connect with consumers and vastly improve their encounters with the health care industry.

Next-Generation Clinical Care

Next-generation systems have expanded the capabilities of hospitals and group practices to support clinicians and improve patient safety by capturing and analyzing clinical data. This award recognizes the provider organization that is making best use of these new tools to provide intelligence at the point of care.

Information Management Innovation

Health care data is being used in vastly different ways by an expanding group of caregivers, administrators, researchers, consumers and public health agencies. The award will be presented to the organization that has embraced new data management technologies and paradigms to enable information to flow seamlessly between medical devices, information systems, facilities and individuals.

Revenue Cycle 2.0

A monumental challenge facing provider organizations is how to adapt to an increasingly challenging business environment. The award goes to the organization that has embraced new technology to streamline accounts receivables, ensure payment accuracy and minimize financial waste.

Award winners will be announced during the WHIT 4.0 conference. The Innovator of the Year and the I.T. leadership from each of the award-winning organizations will be contacted by an HDM editor no later than Sept. 30, 2008, to inform them of the award and to invite them to the December event as our guest to receive their awards.

For more information on the awards please call Greg Gillespie, Publisher at Health Data Management, at 312-983-6201, or e-mail at greg.gillespie@sourcemedia.com.

About WHIT:

Now in its fourth year, the WHIT Congress is about the next generation of innovation and technology as defined through the analysis of a focused and growing set of best resources for innovation and creativity. Health care provider, payer, government and technology executive decision makers will have the unique opportunity to learn how to position themselves to challenge existing assumptions, highlight new innovation spaces, clarify and build on opportunities and choreograph their organizations’ response. Attendees will also hear about the latest cutting-edge tools, strategies and techniques they need to increase their organizations’ capacity for change, and will experience first-hand the technologies born from innovation that revolutionize the way care is delivered and accessed.

Brought to you by the team that produces The World Health Care Congress, the annual meeting of chief and senior executives from all sectors of health care, WHIT v.4.0 analyzes next-step innovation and technology approaches within four distinct practice areas:

* Cutting-edge innovation and next generation best resources,

* Analysis of the technologies that are right for your organization,

* Effective execution and integration strategies, and

* Legislation, policies and regulations impacting implementation and operations.
