Industry veteran Jon Zimmerman has joined claims clearinghouse Availity as it seeks to expand into electronically delivering clinical data.
Zimmerman will serve as senior vice president and clinical solutions at the Jacksonville, Fla.-based vendor. He started with IBM Corp. then moved to Shared Medical Systems (Siemens) and was a leader in developing and running its HDX clearinghouse subsidiary. He later served at CareFusion and Allscripts.
Zimmerman has been a leader in such industry advocacy organizations as the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange, North Carolina Healthcare Information and Communications Alliance, eHealth Initiative and National Alliance for Health Information Technology.
