The Arkansas Board of Nursing has launched an online nursing license application service that integrates a criminal background check into the application process.

Nurses and students previously submitted paper applications by mail or in person, and board staff then manually entered information into the background check process. The new online system also enables electronic communication between the board and applicants to resolve any issues with the application. The board processes more than 3,000 new licenses annually and expects substantial cost and time savings.

The system supports the National Council Licensure Examination, endorsements from other states, permits for refresher courses, advanced practice nurse certification and medication assistant, among other licensure and certificate programs. More information is here.
