AHIMA Picks its New CEO

The American Health Information Management Association has named Lynne Thomas Gordon as CEO, effective September 29.


The American Health Information Management Association has named Lynne Thomas Gordon as CEO, effective September 29.

She succeeds Alan Dowling, who left the organization in June along with COO Sandra Fuller. Rose Dunn, an AHIMA director, has served as interim CEO.

Thomas Gordon has served as associate vice president for hospital operations and director at Children's Hospital at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. She previously was the administrator at Houston Medical Center, part of Houston Healthcare, in Warner Robins, Ga. She also served as COO at Children's Hospital of Michigan, part of Detroit Medical Center; and at Shands AGH, a hospital in Gainesville, Fla., that closed in late 2009.
