Health information management professionals attending the annual AHIMA conference Oct. 1-3 in Chicago may want to stay an extra day for the Clinical Data Analysis and Mapping Institute on the 4th.

The day-long institute will feature data analysis methods with examples from ICD-10, SNOMED CT and other code sets, and how data maps can link one coded data set to another to capture data once and re-use it.

Topics to be tackled include: Evaluating the need for a map and developing the use case, applying quality control measures for map development, creating content validation studies, developing map rules for consistency and reliability, testing the map for reproducibility, recognizing, selecting and validating data sample sets; defining relevant data analytics terms, and applying project management skills for map development.

Career opportunities in clinical data analysis and data mapping also will be examined. The institute costs $275 for AHIMA members and $375 for others. More information is available here.
