Shareholders OK Misys/Allscripts Deal

Shareholders of Misys plc and Allscripts LLC on Oct. 6 approved the proposed merger of Allscripts and Misys Healthcare Systems, Raleigh, N.C.

The vote followed Misys' recent obtaining of commitments for $325 million in funding to pay for a special cash dividend to shareholders of Chicago-based Allscripts (click for more).

The companies now expect the merger to close on or about Oct. 10. Allscripts will pay the dividend on Oct. 17. The new company will be called Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions Inc. and be headquartered in Chicago.
