Philips Adds to Cardiovascular Line

Amsterdam-based Royal Philips Electronics will acquire TOMCAT Systems, Ltd., a vendor of cardiovascular information systems in Belfast, Ireland. Acquisition terms were not disclosed.

TOMCAT’s technology performs the scheduling and clinical documentation functions of typical cardiovascular systems. It also pulls data--such as patient history, investigation results, operations, medications, clinic visits, rehabilitation care and vital signs from monitors--from various information systems and places the data in a centralized data repository for viewing, reports and analysis.

The company has about 85 hospital clients in Ireland, England, Canada and Scandinavia. The acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter. TOMCAT will become part of Philips Healthcare. Philips will market the software in North America and other selected markets.

More information is available at tomcat.co.uk and medical.philips.com.
