HIStalk first mentioned the sale last week and it now has been confirmed. Humedica fills a clinical analytics need for Optum as the company recently launched a collaborative research and development facility with initial partner Mayo Clinic.
The goal of the facility, called Optum Labs, is to improve patient care. Initial work is being done using claims data from Optum and clinical data from Mayo, and focusing on best treatments for chronic myelogenous leukemia, measuring cost effectiveness of medical devices, improved diagnosis of Hepatitis C and better understanding of health disparities among the elderly.
Optum and Mayo are seeking additional partners. More information is available here.
