HEALTHCAREfirst, a vendor of clinical, financial and administrative information systems for home health and hospice agencies, has acquired complementary vendor Lewis Computer Services Inc. for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition brings more market share and new capabilities to Ozark, Mo.-based HEALTHCAREfirst. New capabilities from Baton Rouge, La.-based Lewis include data analytics to maximize appropriate care and payments, Medicare claims tracking, and daily reports of patients who have enrolled in a Medicare HMO. Such patients may not realize they have joined an HMO with lower or no coverage for home care.

With the acquisition, HEALTHCAREfirst now can offer its outsourced billing and coding services to Lewis' client base. The combined companies serve approximately 1,200 clients.
