Pri-Med LLC, an operator of continuing medical education conferences as well as online courses, has acquired ambulatory electronic health records vendor Amazing Charts for an undisclosed sum.

North Kingstown, R.I.-based Amazing Charts serves more than 5,600 practices and won a 2011 Best in KLAS Award for an ambulatory EHR serving one to 10 physicians. Boston-based Pri-Med serves more than 260,000 physicians through about 30 conferences a year as well as its Web seminars.

Now, Pri-Med will offer educational services through the EHR at the point of care, says John Mooney, CEO, and the company also has a large customer based to which it will market the records software. Jonathan Bertman, M.D., founder of Amazing Charts, will serve as president at Pri-Med with COO Kathleen Repoli serving as senior vice president. The companies are well-acquainted with each other as Amazing Charts has attended every Pri-Med conference during the past nine years.
