Concerro Inc., a vendor of scheduling software for provider organizations, has acquired the CommandAware hospital information management system business line from PortBlue Corp., Los Angeles. Acquisition terms were not disclosed.

Some 240 hospitals and 10 emergency operations centers use CommandAware. The system assists in managing all phases of response to a disaster. Modules cover such areas as preparation, mitigation, response and recovery. Its regional data sharing system enables multi-agency regional cooperation by exchanging and tracking real-time information on capacity, equipment and supplies, critical infrastructure and personnel.

The acquisition opens a new product line for San Diego-based Concerro. It also enables the company to cross-sell products among clients of both vendors. CommandAware is Concerro's first acquisition.

More information is available at concerro.com and commandaware.com.

A major success factor for accountable care organizations will be linking caregivers across the spectrum of care delivery. If history is any indication, that's going to be an industrywide struggle.
