EHNAC is working with DirectTrust.org, created by participants of the Direct Project that was federally funded to develop software to securely exchange authenticated and encrypted health information over the Internet. Companies eligible for the new EHNAC accreditation program include health information service providers, certificate authorities and registration authorities.
DirectTrust.org has begun testing and a number of companies have self-attested during the development phase. The formal accreditation program is expected to launch in early 2013. “This accreditation will guarantee that organizations participating in Direct Project initiatives establish and uphold a superior level of trust for their stakeholders,” says Lee Barrett, executive director of EHNAC.
